In U.S., Yoga teachers need to pay rent for the space, liability insurance, professional fees, continuing ed, to feed themselves and pay their own personal expenses.. this adds up.. …in other ctrys communities support the local spiritual comm. After witnessing the health care debate in U.S., I’ve found it is unrealistic to expect this in this in this society… we all live in the same economic, litigious, societal conditions, including yoga teachers…

This was in response to loomisnueve’s comment!

If you had something spiritually awesome to give you would not invite the world to come for free and take it. You would end up with a million lunatics looking for instant cures for athletes foot, dandruff, and yeast infections. Good yoga courses, like good music lessons, or art lessons, are expensive because the person who is offering their service needs to live, support their family, EAT, and also take breaks themselves from helping people. Also, I might add, expense is relative!

that is something i can’t understand, why yoga courses are so damned expensive!?
kinda contradiction with the esence of yoga.
if i had something spiritually awesome i would gladly give that to others for free.

“Pattabhi jois is a funny guy not evil. Just one more guy capitalizing on the gulliability and credulity of his western disciples selling yogic goodies ”
What does that mean, anyway?
November 7th, 2009 at 7:51 pm
Love it – I can totally relate to the guy on the left!
November 7th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
he reminds me of a few cranky old teachers i’ve had.
November 7th, 2009 at 8:08 pm
Oh please… If Pattabhi Jois is selling “yogic goodies”, then he certainly doesn’t promote it well. Get your facts straight before you comment.
November 7th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
Heh, Rosenthal does kind of look like him.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:06 pm

Dude! Is that Richard Simmons?
November 7th, 2009 at 10:43 pm
Why do you ask if this is evil? Are you talking about the way they’re moving? Just about anyone can do what these guys are doing if they apply themselves.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:29 pm
Frikaloopa, thank you so much for posting this clip! Please tell us where this clip comes from.
That Ray Rosenthal guy (the one on the left who Pattahbi assists) reminds me of myself sometimes when I practice ashtanga.

Haha, did someone really call Sri Pattabhi Jois evil? It does look a bit funny though, lol.

Yoga purifies your body and gives you strenght. But the best of all its benefits is that you can keep quiet your mind and calm.
November 8th, 2009 at 12:55 am
everybody has to practice this
